A Mala is a set of beads traditionally used as a meditation tool to focus the mind.
A Mala can also be a beautiful piece of jewelry reminding the wearer of an intention set and can evoke a sense of mindfulness.
Learn to make your own personal Mala and infuse it with intention. Malas are made with 108 beads, a guru bead and a tassel. Each part of the Mala hold symbolism and meaning. The number 108 has long been a sacred number in many Eastern culture and disciplines. As you knot your Mala, with each knot we are unknotting and working through something of ourselves. The Guru bead reminds of the teacher or lesson and the tassel is a symbol of the lotus flower which grows from the mud. Within the complete Mala, a garland, a circular continuous form, a cycle.
The class will be conducted in a mindful format, allowing the participant to spend time in quiet contemplation within the group while learning the sacred art of Mala making. This is a workshop appropriate for all skill levels.
You will have the opportunity to fully customize your Mala, choosing semi-precious gemstone beads that are most meaningful for you, along with unique accent and guru beads and a coordinating silk thread for knots and tassel.
Each 2.5 hour class include silk thread for beading and tassel, needle, a wide variety of accent beads (gemstone/wood/metal/vintage), a beautiful storage bag, opening meditation, instruction, closing ritual, as well as snacks and tea for a cost of $75.
Your 108 x 8mm gemstone beads and one Guru bead are additional cost. Costs vary widely depending on choice and can range from $30 to $200. Choosing your own gemstones is an important part of the Mala making process as each stone holds a different energy and sacred meaning.

Class sizes are small to provide support and guidance during the 2.5 hour workshop. Minimum of 6 and maximum of 10 required for each class. Private sessions or small group sessions for special events are also available upon request.
